Sands Point

The Sands Point Residence is a large gambrel home. The house was not influenced by the height regulations which are so restrictive in the Hamptons. The cross axis gambrel gable with hollers on the ridges, give the house its strong presence. The overhangs progress from clipped to the recess and flair out on top of the first-floor banding. The house gradually bends maximizing the water view, as well as bringing down the scale. The covered recessed roof deck blends into the side of the gambrel and turns into a sagging gable portico. The entire first floor in Connecticut fieldstone with a preponderance of rust.
